Modify is an award-winning full-service interior design and build firm focused on creating beautiful spaces in the places we live and work. But it’s more than just aesthetics; it’s also about creating a space you will love to share. A home that is ready to entertain, a place to relax at the end of the day, or a weekend hideaway – whatever the goal – we specialize in rethinking those spaces to reflect what’s truly unique for you in ways you might not know were possible.
While we can create beautiful living spaces without swinging a hammer (it’s amazing what furniture, lighting and rugs can accomplish), we can also make magnificent structural changes (an addition or a new kitchen can transform a home). Our biggest asset to the client, though, is when the designers and contractors work together for you. You won’t have conflicting aesthetic and practical visions. Rather, you have a collaborative team with a unified goal to make your home work better for you.
OUR PROCESS
Just a Conversation
We begin with a conversation in your space to get a better understanding of your goals. What do you need in your home or workplace? How should it function for you and your family? Friends? Employees? Pets? (We love pets!) What dreams do you have for the space? Hearing what inspires you will help us understand your unique scope of work. Reviewing our process will explain how we can best work together. This chance for us to meet face-to-face will help to evaluate “chemistry” – which is an important part of your experience! Finally, we prepare by measuring, taking photos, and getting a preliminary understanding of your budget.
Planning the Project
Once you have decided “let’s get started!” the work begins. The planning phase is a collaboration with you and our Modify Team. If the project requires both construction and interior design, that is where we start. We will test some design theories and begin early concept discussions with you. With a deeper understanding of your aesthetic, and the purpose of each space, we quickly move to working out the details that are needed to make your home more beautiful and functional. These elements are represented in the final design, CAD drawings, and/or construction documents.
Transformation
The process of transformation is the part we love the most. We draft a project timeline, then begin to implement the goals we have laid out in the planning process. We order design elements and/or work with our trade partners, gathering the resources needed to give new life to your home or workplace. Once everything is gathered, we create a schedule for implementation and/or construction. At this point, things really begin to take shape! Our team manages this process, so you can rest in the knowledge we have the skills and resources to make it happen!
