2016 Closet Trend Report

➋ Closet Jewelry…Forgo the ordinary knobs and pulls and bring in some “bling” for the hardware.

➌ Fine Finishes…When planning a closet redo, consider the décor of adjacent rooms and select wood finishes to blend in with the overall color scheme.

➍ Fashion Underfoot…Throw down an area rug for warmth and style. This makes the closet feel like part of a room.

➎ Assigned Seating…Place a stool, ottoman, bench or slipper chair in the closet so you’ll have a spot to try on shoes.

➏ Display Your “Wears”…Give your best-loved pieces the VIP treatment by using a bookcase or custom shelving to keep them prominently in view.

Laura Ray, president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers, recommends assessing your personal style as you consider re-organizing or updating your closet. “Shop in your own closet. Treat it like a store you love,” she says. That attitude will help you appreciate your clothing and be mindful of what you add to the space.
