Backlighting and Acrylic Panels: Using an LED RGB Strip Light from
Cloud Communications & Security, LLC, coupled with custom acrylic panels by
Elevation Building Company, LLC, interior designer Radhika Vydianathan established the bold tone of the basement with this backlit bar. Unexpected feature? Using a smartphone or remote control, the homeowner can change the backlighting to any color imaginable, from fuchsia to turquoise. www.cloudcsllc.com; www.elevationbuildingco.com
Custom Countertops: To complement the dark elements of the space, these quartz countertops were selected to bring in brightness. Get the look with the beautifully
veined Compac Unique Calacatta quartz at Miami Circle Marble & Fabrication.
773 Miami Cir. NE., Atlanta. www.miamicirclemarble.com
Cabinetry: Radhika chose Benjamin Moore®’s Black Jack paint with a matte finish to create contrast with the overall sleek décor, including chrome appliances. Find it at Paint Unlimited. 6066 Sandy Springs Cir., Sandy Springs or www.benjaminmoore.com
Light Fixtures: Circa Lighting’s Revere Pendant in Satin Nickel with a Transparent Smoke finish was chosen by the designer to accent the 10-foot island. 3078 Roswell Rd. NW., Atlanta. www.circalighting.com
Bar Stools: Homeowners Kyle and Jennifer Phillippi, wanted to incorporate color from their favorite poster prints. With this in mind, the designer transformed these ARTeFAC leather bar stools, which were once ivory, with ROMO fabrics’ Plain Cotton Pile Velvet in Jensen Cerulean. 351 Peachtree Hills Ave. NE., Ste. 101, Atlanta. www.romo.com

Interior designer, Radhika VydianathanRadhika Vydianathan’s tips for designing an
eye-catching basement and wine bar
• Consider every element an element of décor, down to the bottles on display. I decided to showcase Kyle and Jennifer’s rosé to reflect the backlight better.
• Take inspiration from commercial spaces and bring that into your home. Hotel brands that are my personal favorites include Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and JW Marriott.
• Continuity in the flooring throughout your home will help connect each space. In the Phillippi household, I matched the hardwood on the main level to the basement floors to achieve this.
