Located in a vintage Tudor house in Irving, this dated bathroom was lacking both in modern looks and amenities. “The homeowners wanted all of those modern amenities, but didn’t want the bathroom to have a cold, sterile look,” explains Faye Nielsen of The Nielsen Collection, who was hired to redesign the space. “Taking down the soffit and some of the walls really opened up the space, and allowed us to begin work on creating their dream bathroom area.”

Spa-like features such as heated floors, an electric fireplace and rolling shower doors helped to create the serene feeling that the homeowners were looking for. The renovated bathroom’s eco-friendly elements include LED lighting in the bathroom vanity and ceiling, along with bamboo accents in the shower area. “The bamboo definitely helped to bring the outdoors in,” Nielsen says. “The bathroom itself now feels warm and inviting.” Finished off with a flat wall paint from Sherwin-Williams and stainless steel accents, the bathroom now has the look and feel of a true oasis. “The owners of this home are busy people, but this bathroom fits their lives perfectly,” Nielsen says. “In fact, they told me that they can no longer take a quick shower. They love to truly live in the space and enjoy it.”
