The Sept. 25 two-hour season premiere of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, featuring First Lady Michelle Obama as a special guest, focused on the rebuilding of the Jubilee House in Fayetteville, a shelter that offers housing and social services to 30 homeless female U.S. Veterans. Creative Design Builders Inc. of Raleigh was called in to build a greenhouse as an addition to the Jubilee House, and their work resulted in a beautiful white 14-by-20 foot structure with an adjacent outdoor stone fireplace. The greenhouse features an automated watering drip system, a polycarbonate roof, tempered glass walls, a hanging basket suspension system, a gable fan cooling system and full-view personalized etched-glass doors. There is a double level of custom plant shelving on one 20-foot wall and a single level of custom plant shelving on the other, along with electrical outlets, lighting, stone knee-high walls and stone columns at both entryways. Brick pavers cover the flooring, sidewalks and courtyard patio. The new Jubilee House is now a beautiful residence that honors women in transition who served their country, and the new greenhouse is a beautiful outdoor retreat not only to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers, but also to plant the seeds for a better life.
