Atlanta Landscapers Join Georgia Urban Agriculture Council

One of the exciting topics discussed that evening was the new merger of MALTA into the Georgia Urban Agriculture Council. The Urban Ag Council is a collaboration of the Georgia Turfgrass Association, Georgia Sod Producers Association and MALTA, with the aim of furthering awareness and understanding of urban agriculture.
Effective April 1 the new chairmen of the council will include:
- Phil Walters, formerly Piedmont Landscape
- Teddy Russell, Russell Landscape
- Tony Gibson, Gibson Landscape
- Ken Morrow, Sod Atlanta
- Bob Scott, Irrigation Consultants
- Mark Banta, Centennial Olympic Park
- Bret Bowlin, Mountain Valley Farms
- Aaron McWhorter, NG Turf
- George Wolf, John Deere Landscapes
As Atlanta continues to grow, the need for fostering urban agriculture is growing more than ever before. The Urban Ag Council plays an active role in helping Georgia through its current water crisis and strives to promote sustainable urban and suburban environments.
Spring is a time for new beginnings, and I am excited to see the changes and awareness this new partnership will bring to Georgia!
