Consisting of major improvements, additions and a few rearrangements that took 14 months to complete, this Wakefield home filled with three kids now caters to the entire family. Originally a barren backyard full of trees and a steeply sloped front yard with overgrown plants, the owners of this home had goals in mind of tree elimination, without compromising privacy, as well as a swimming pool and a sport court. To capture this vision, Earthly Delights Landscape Design was able to coordinate the removal of around 30 trees from the back in order to make space for an in-ground swimming pool, and sport court was added to the back right corner. Low voltage landscape lighting was installed to illuminate the sport court and the seat wall at the fire pit. Shrubs pulled from the front yard were moved to the back to help aid in a privacy border. A retaining wall was also inserted around a maple tree in the front, allowing beautiful shrubbery to flow over. Also transplanted was the play set, moved to the left rear of the back yard, with plans to replace it with more plantings and a new patio once the owners’ children no longer use it. New plants were chosen to add color and beauty to the yard – many native plants were chosen to ensure quality and beauty. From the front yard to the back yard, the renovation turned out beautifully.
