Meet Brandy Hall, Business Owner and 2023 Rising Stars Top 10
Brandy Hall | Age 39
Founder of Shades of Green Permaculture
With Shades of Green Permaculture, Brandy Hall helps people lead healthier lives thanks to a deeper understanding of how our landscapes mean more than we think. It’s working—last year alone, she worked to convert 500 acres of land to organic management, harvested more than 11 million gallons of rainwater and planted 150,000 native and medicinal plants, 4,500 trees and more than 40,000 food-producing plants. And she’s just getting started.
What drives you to want to introduce permaculture methods to homeowners?
When I was young, my mom and stepdad were poisoned by the herbicides and pesticides they used on the farm, which led to escalating allergic reactions for years. I want to empower people to understand and interact with their landscapes in a better way.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Value your worth and your time! If at least 10% of your potential clients aren’t telling you that you’re too expensive, then you’re probably not pricing yourself high enough. Know your worth and you’ll find the right clients who value you as much as you do.
What is one thing you’d tell a homeowner about going greener with their landscape plan?
Your garden, no matter the size, can have a positive impact on the environment.
