Kitchen Renovation by Home Revision LLC, Clayton

The idea behind this dramatic remodel was simple and straightforward: create a space that would allow the homeowners of this split-level residence to have their family gather in the kitchen, the heart of their home. Prior to the renovation, which was completed by the experts from Home Revision LLC, the small kitchen had space for only one person within the confines of the U-shaped preparation and cleanup area. With the backing of the owners, who were willing to think outside the box, the design team eliminated a table that was used in the kitchen and redesigned the peninsula with an elliptical granite surface, allowing the feature to serve as the space’s new gathering place. Now the kitchen can accommodate several children and grandchildren when the family gets together. In terms of aesthetics, the kitchen’s dark cabinets were replaced with budget-friendly laminate ones, which left funds available for new appliances and granite countertops. Recessed, under-cabinet and pendant lighting brightens the now sophisticated space, and a built-in, full-cabinet pantry with pullout drawers has dramatically increased the kitchen’s storage capacity. While initially seen as a real challenge by the homeowners and the Home Revision team, this makeover turned out to be a great success.
