The Homeowners’ Request: Build a relaxing outdoor retreat addition to the existing house.

The Goal of the Project: Add an upper level screened-in porch and deck with a lower level stone patio using materials that are low maintenance. Also ensure that there is easy access from the upper level to the stone patio.

The Result:
A luxurious outdoor space with a screened-in porch, a composite deck (Envision decking by TAMKO Building Products in Woodland bark color) and a lower level stone patio using slate flagstone that is slip-resistant and durable. PVC trim from Ply Gem was used on the columns, headers and staircase. This material does not rot, split or swell due to moisture. LED low-voltage lights from Highpoint Deck Lighting are a great energy-efficient solution for the outdoor space.
