The family of four that lives in this home already had a casual great room, so they wanted to upgrade their dining room and foyer to a more formal area designed for entertaining guests. A remodel of their front room, with a fireplace as a focal point, was in order. For the project, Cabinet Style Studio Ltd. teamed up with Galaco Carpentry Plus to design and remodel the space. They were challenged with adding functional service areas on both sides of the enhanced fireplace, so they recessed the cabinetry short of the right doorway, and customized the cabinetry to the left of the fireplace to fit the tight “L”-shaped space—a delicate fit while accommodating support framing and electrical wiring for accent lights. To increase the formality of the space, they added crown molding throughout, as well as columns, mantle and trim details stained to match the cabinetry. Granite is featured on the fireplace, countertops and backsplashes, and a custom glass mural by Sheri Law Art Glass Ltd. tops the mantle for an eye-catching finishing touch.
