Meet Gustavo Arce, Solar Energy Advocate and 2021 Rising Stars Top 10
Gustavo Arce | Age 23
Solar Consultant at Creative Solar USA
From enrolling in solar school and working construction on-site to binge-watching documentaries, sitting in on city meetings with business leaders, and asking a whole lot of questions, it’s no question that sustainable energy is Gustavo Arce’s biggest passion. As a solar consultant with Creative Solar USA, he’s spent the last four years growing the solar capacity in his community, including being a part of the first Generac battery solar project in the state. And, like his industry, he’s not stopping.
Why is this industry important to you?
My passion for sustainability comes from seeing many habitats and communities affected by poor air quality, water contamination and food scarcity. These three issues will be exacerbated if sustainable solutions are not improved. Every person deserves a house to call home without worrying about their basic needs.
How do you give back to your community?
Through my fraternity, La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc., I help high school students get into colleges and universities by educating them on the process. I also serve on the executive committee for the Sierra Club Georgia Chapter, where we advance green initiatives in the state.
How do you unwind?
Grabbing a Tassili’s Raw Reality kale wrap, then heading down to Piedmont Park to kick the soccer ball and enjoy the day. After that, I love to swing by a nice brewery on the Westside and end the night cracking jokes with good company.
What advice would you give others starting out in the industry?
I’ve only been working in it professionally for two years, but I’d say work 80 hours or more a week (that’s what I’ve done), learn to be a sales machine and be confident enough to know you can learn anything and humble enough to know you do not know everything.
