Sewell Appliance was founded in 1962 by Charlie Sewell with a desk and a phone in an office shared with a small heating and air company. As satisfied customers soon became repeat and the word of his excellence and integrity spread, the business grew steadily. In the early 70’s, Charlie recognized a need to supply new products when repairs were no longer feasible and established the sales division of Sewell Appliance. The store moved to Sandy Springs in 1975, and by 1987, the Sewell’s settled into the Hilderbrand Court shopping center, renovating that location several times to keep up with the growing market and demand. In 2009, Sewell Appliance moved into its present 19,000 square foot facility expanding to showcase the latest products in the appliance industry and employ over 25 staff members in sales, service and installation. Early this year, the Sewell family realized their special company was growing at a pace exceeding its resources and accepted an offer from Builder Specialties, Inc. to merge their businesses. Today, Sewell Appliance has proudly become a division of Builder Specialties, Inc., whose desire and mission is to offer the familiar excellence of Sewell Appliance service on a larger scale.
