Through the years, this Plano kitchen served as the much-loved setting for countless family memories. It was beginning to show its age when the homeowners, now empty nesters, got the idea to renovate, allowing them to create new memories in a new kitchen. “Happy with the workflow of the kitchen, the couple asked for more storage and better use of their current space,” explains designer and CKD Interiors managing partner Kait Downey. “Ultimately, the kitchen had to be taken down to the studs to accommodate the new cabinets that would include three giant pot drawers and pullout shelves in each cabinet.”
The new kitchen features a mail organization cabinet, cleaning supply cabinet and wine rack next to the wine cooler. The homeowners’ travels to places such as Europe and South America inspired them to add color and excitement. “Cool greens, bright rusts and yellows with pearlescent glazes were added to pop the space,” says Downey. “The homeowners have decided this house would be their final home, so they really went wild with colors and textures to create this truly modern/traditional fusion with European flair.”
Several pass-throughs surrounding the kitchen were arched to mimic the cabinet design and to make the space more inviting. This kitchen brings together functionality and fun, making it the perfect place for new memories to be made.
