“You might call this a kitchen remodel, but it was so much more,” says Mark Lewis, president of Pro/Craft Contracting Inc., about this Lake Forest project. The homeowner was looking for a larger, more functional kitchen with a warm, inviting feel and timeless decor. To accomplish this, Lewis’s crew had to remove a load-bearing wall in the home, opening the kitchen up to the family room and creating, as Lewis describes, “one large, inviting and brilliant space.” To give the space warmth, custom cabinetry was built and installed, offering a white painted finish and a gray dry-brush glaze. A second island is an asset when preparing for backyard barbecues, and the white Carrara marble countertops complement the smokey-quartz JewelStone mosaic backsplash, both defining factors in this kitchen’s classic design.
