A: Though ice on the surface of your driveway can be dangerous, do not use salt. This causes spalling, where the surface crumbles. Instead, use more effective chemical ice melt like calcium chloride and magnesium chloride. Another way to maintain the look of your driveway is to pressure wash it. Last but not least, be sure to caulk cracks and joints to prevent water erosion.
