Remodeling Activity Increasing in Atlanta

Bathroom remodel by Atlanta's Handcrafted Homes Inc.
Since many Atlanta residents are staying in their homes for longer these days, either because they can’t sell or can’t get another mortgage, remodeling activity is increasing all around the city. Popular projects include kitchen and bath remodels, finishing the basement, additions and outdoor living spaces, and homeowners are making bolder choices to make their homes more personalized.
- A measure of the vitality of the local industry, several Atlanta remodelers recently made Qualified Remodeler magazine’s 2011 Top 500 Remodelers List, including Atlanta Design & Build, Home Rebuilders, MasterWorks and SawHorse, Inc. Plus, a host of new design showrooms have opened recently such as the new Cosentino Center in Norcross and new PDI location in Alpharetta, and others are in the works of expanding or relocating. The new home and garden social network, Hometalk, also has an office in Atlanta and credits the Atlanta market with helping make the site a success. Coupled with a 24.5% increase in year-over-year gains in national remodeling activity, according to the BuildFax Remodeling Index, remodeling is playing a large role in the recovery of the housing industry.
We at Atlanta Home Improvement magazine have certainly seen an influx of remodeling projects being submitted and provide remodeling information, ideas and resources in each issue. We are also active members in the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) as well as the National Kitchen & Bath Association of Georgia and the Georgia Urban Agriculture Council (including the Metro Atlanta Landscape & Turf Association (MALTA).) Other partners include the bi-annual Atlanta Home Show and Consult a Home Pro, a network of local home improvement professionals. These organizations are always a great place to start when looking for a contractor, as members must meet a rigorous set of qualifications, keep up-to-date on the latest building codes and trends and provide excellent customer service.Download our 2011 Remodeling Planner to use as a guide for your next project, and get inspired by these before-and-after makeovers.
