Slate Floors Provide Color Inspiration for Basement Design
Before
This basement went from drab to fab with a little bit of TLC from Designs by Paisley, which transformed it from dark and dull to a light, airy and casual space ideal for frequent family use. Contributing to the room’s problems were existing walls with a poorly applied brown faux finish and insufficient lighting.
The design team made plans for a bright, fun space, finding inspiration for a new color scheme in the basement’s existing slate floors. After
Soft blue walls cool and calm, while energizing pops of rusty red add warmth. Both hues complement the slate. Along with the striking color combination, a balanced mix of patterns and textures adds visual interest. Bamboo sticks, woven end tables and the fiber indoor/outdoor area rug complete the casual vibe.
The rug is from Home Decorators Collection, the chairs are covered in upholstery by Sam Moore, the end tables are from Crate & Barrel, and the table lamp is from HomeGoods.
