The couple that owns this Coppell home was fortunate to have a large bank of windows in their kitchen, filling the space with natural light throughout the day. However, that was the only feature that they liked about their outdated kitchen. The homeowners desperately wanted to create a warm and inviting space with a custom look and feel via natural tones and decorative lighting. “To achieve these goals, we added a refrigerator surround for better access to the storage above, a wine rack above the ovens, an additional tower at the desk unit, a beautiful custom vent hood and all-new door and drawer faces throughout,” explains Matthew McGregor, director of operations at Royal Restorations.
“The cabinets,” McGregor continues, “which were finished in a chestnut brown color with a glaze finish, provided better functional storage as well as an upgrade to the look of the original kitchen.” The large-tile flooring was installed at a 45 degree angle to broaden the space, and 3 centimeter granite countertops were installed, chosen for their durability in this busy kitchen. The oil-rubbed bronze pot-filler faucet and the custom backsplash niche above the cooktop were also vital components in completing this design and adding function for these active cooks. Of course, incorporating today’s styles into an aging home can create its share of obstacles. “The overall challenge we face in projects like this is in integrating the new designs into the home and having everything live together as one home,” McGregor explains. “Coordinating colors and architectural details is so important to this outcome and it really shows when you don’t pull it off.” Fortunately for this Coppell home, the pros at Royal Restorations did pull it off, and the homeowners are very happy with their newly renovated space.
