Why Hire an Architect?
Categories: Blog
We recently asked Bulent A. Baydar, AIA, project architect at Harrison Design Associates, about the advantages of hiring an architect when building a house or doing arenovation. He outlined several advantages including:
- Defining the style Architects can help you extract the best combination of ideas to create a cohesive vision for your aesthetic and functional needs.
- Creativity that works Architects understand space, material and how elements of a design work in concert. Architects can foresee potential problems and offer ways to mitigate or avoid them altogether.
- Owner advocate Architects frequently represent owners in collecting and analyzing bids to streamline decisions and negotiate fair prices.
- Taking the lead Architects can interview, assemble and coordinate a team that operates from one page, with the client’s final goal in mind.
“Interview wisely,” Baydar says. “The process of renovating or building a home is a highly detailed one and can be arduous at times. You want an advocate with whom you work and communicate well.”
Can you think of any other advantages of working with an architect on a building or remodeling project? Let us know by leaving a comment.
