Last week, the Atlanta Home Improvement staff had the privilege of attending and helping sponsor the 2011 Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards ceremony hosted by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Held at 103 West Restaurant in Buckhead, guests enjoyed cocktails and a display of 2011 CotY entries followed by dinner and the presentation of awards. Among the entries, we immediately recognized several of the projects–an outdoor living space by Innovative Outdoors and a sunroom addition by Decks & More–that appeared in our October 2011 issue and were featured on the 2nd Annual NARI Atlanta Tour of Remodeled Homes.

NARI Atlanta president Lou Alvarado opened the ceremony by recognizing the event’s sponsors and judges (members of the Tampa Bay Chapter of NARI). Sponsors included The Home Depot, Metro Mechanical, Atlanta Home Improvement, Sherwin-Williams, Ferguson Enterprises, Carolina Lumber, North Atlanta Home Show-Gwinnett Center, Atlanta Home Show-Cobb Galleria, Cowan Supply, Insidesign, Sub-Zero Wolf Southeast, MODA Floors & Interiors.

Next, John Gordon, director of sales and services marketing for The Home Depot, took the stage for the moment we had all been waiting for. I snapped this photo during John’s opening monologue, which included a funny story about how he learned to “dance.”
