Atlanta’s Home Theater and Custom Electronics Resources Among Top in Nation
Last week I learned just how well-regarded some of Atlanta’s home theater and custom electronics providers are in the industry as a whole. It started with a visit to Electronic Home‘s showroom at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, which houses a jaw-dropping $1 million home theater display (similar to this Egyptian-inspired one.)
What makes this home theater different from most is its hidden sound system, IMAX-like screen and custom-designed seating. The sound is actually generated from behind the theater screen from giant speakers just like in real movie theaters. This keeps the speakers hidden and gives viewers an intense sound-enveloped movie-watching experience. The screen uses digital technology similar to IMAX, which creates a feeling of being in the middle of the action. Add to that comfortable upholstered leather armchair seating, and you have the best of the best in home theaters. Who knew this kind of luxury was available right here in Atlanta?
Later in the week I attended the 3rd Annual Atlanta Housing Rebound Summit, which was sponsored in part by Digital Interiors of Alpharetta. Not only does Digital Interiors provide high-tech luxury garages to members of the new Atlanta Motorsports Park, but it was also named a 2011 TechHome Mark of Excellence Finalist for Custom Home of the Year by the Consumer Electronics Association. That means you can trick out your home with as many gadgets and as much digital integration as you want without leaving Atlanta. Here are some things to look for when hiding technology in your home:
- in-wall subwoofer and invisible speakers
- touchscreen controls that integrate many systems
- automated lifts
- centralized equipment racks
- mirror TV
