A Year-Round Showstopper

Located on a corner lot in Elk Grove Village, this home’s owners wanted to build what was originally conceived as a screened porch on the south side of the home, with great views of a park across the street. After evaluating their original idea, the homeowners decided to instead build a sunroom that they could use year-round. They hired Distinctive Home Renovations to bring their idea to life. Integrating the addition into the existing home—which was built in the 1980s—was the biggest challenge the contractor faced, but after careful choices, the exterior blends together beautifully.

The interior offers upgraded decor and finishes, which can be noticed when walking from the existing home into the addition, making the addition the shining star of the home. The sunroom’s furnishings are from Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Smith & Hawken, Walter E. Smithe, Northwest Metalcraft in Arlington Heights and The Great Escape.

“This really was the ideal location for a room of this style,” says Randy Ruzanski of Distinctive Home Renovations. “Everyone looks at the sunroom as they drive by, especially at night when it is lit.”
