Meet Abyssnia (Abby) Hunter, Designer Associate and 2026 Rising Stars Inspiration Award Winner
Abyssnia (Abby) Hunter
Designer Associate, Miranda Cabinets & Designs
In just one year, Abyssnia (Abby) Hunter has earned a reputation for adaptability, detail and a commitment to meaningful design. Pairing her unique vision with a growing knowledge of the construction process, she delivers spaces that are both visually distinct and highly functional. Her passion for personalization drives her to push beyond conventional trends, and her clients can’t get enough of it.
How have you made a name for yourself so early in your career?
My ability to adapt and keep up with the ever-changing area of interior design allows me to create something different with each space. I want to be a part of creating new trends and continue to bring color and happiness to the world, because it truly needs it.
What are you most proud of since you’ve been in your role?
I have learned so much about the construction side. This knowledge is invaluable when designing spaces because I’m already informed when consulting with the builder, plumber, electrician, etc. I am also learning to manage multiple projects at once, handling drawings, logistics, material sourcing and more.
How have you been able to give back in your career?
I love to source furniture from places that support good causes. For example, Sunny & Ranney supports the Sunshine on a Ranney Day charity, which renovates homes for children with long-term illnesses or physical challenges. I look up to this charity because my sister has one of these illnesses and she is the sweetest.
What advice can you give to inspire other young designers?
Keep doing what makes you happy. This industry is competitive, but there’s enough cake to go around, so we should continue to support and help one another. If you have something that allows you to stand out from the rest and push the industry toward something new, even better!
