Remodeling runs in the family for Brooke Ivey, President of Ben Hill Renovations—a company started by her grandfather. She went into the family business in the 8th grade to save for her first car and was named President this year.

Did or do you have any mentors?
David Welch, my father, has been a great mentor. He has worked hard and trained me into the professional that I am today. I’ve gone from working part-time in college as an AP clerk and helping him with marketing, to being named President last year.

Why do you have a passion for the home industry?
I enjoy building lasting relationships with our customers, designing and following through to see the finalized job, and continuing my grandfather’s legacy of being a part of the home industry.

What awards or professional honors you’ve received?
Small Business of Excellence 2019, Douglas County Beautification Award 2020

How do you approach your craft in a way that is different than those who came before you?
We work hard to give our customer’s a stress-free experience during their construction project. Our company’s motto is, “Always create raving fans!” We are always trying to stay up-to-date with the latest technology to help our customers in the design phase of their project! Also, I firmly believe that great communication will take you a long way.

What has been the most difficult part of your career so far?
Being a younger woman in the male-dominated construction industry.

Describe the project you are most proud of. What do you like about it? Our office renovation is by far the project I am most proud of. It is a great show piece to display an outstanding before and after. It is also where we have a showroom for our customers to be able to come in and meet with our design team and pick out what type of roof, siding, windows, decking, etc.
