Day 19 of 30 Days & 30 Ways to Give Your Home Some Love – Make Your Remodel Matter with The Habitat for Humanity ReStore
By My Home Improvement staffer: Wyndi Kappes
Make a difference in your community with your next remodel by working with The Habitat for Humanity ReStore. These nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers takes gently used items and restores and resells them for a new homeowner to use. The funds raised at ReStores help support Habitat’s mission of building and providing homes for those in need. You can help a ReStore during and after your remodel by doing these three simple things:
1.) Donate your gently used furniture, appliances, home décor, and building supplies. Items donated will be fixed or cleaned and then sold to shoppers looking for that perfect piece at a great price.
2.) Shop for unique décor and affordable appliances and supplies. Each ReStore location has a variety of products to offer in every shape, style, and size for your needs. “I love finding unique and unconventional ways to make our services affordable, and ReStore has been one of our top resources for helping our clients save,” says Paula Burchett, owner of Design To Sell Atlanta. Paula has been shopping and donating to a ReStore since it opened and encourages others to join in the fun.
3.) Volunteer after your remodel and put your time and home improvement knowledge to good use. Help clean items, put gorgeous pieces on display, ring people up, and fix broken items. ReStores are always looking for dedicated volunteers who are detail oriented and willing to learn.
