What to expect: Be prepared to see exquisite designs as you embark on a tour of residential and commercial modern design. Because the tour is self-guided, you can drive to, and stay as long as you like, at any of the sites you choose.

Tips and tricks: Bring a notebook. Whip out a pencil and write down what you love, hate, and what sparks your interest. Odds are, there will be more than one thing that you just can’t wait to incorporate into your home. Be sure to get the name of the product or contractor that helped make the magic happen. And since you’ll want to take home the ideas you love, don’t be afraid to snap photos of favorite products, design concepts, and overall spaces. To avoid crowds, remember to start your tour early at 10 a.m. and take advantage of lighter traffic.
