The owner of this Bowie home is an avid golfer. He was preparing to move into his newly constructed home when he first heard of Southwest Greens via a golf tournament telecast where Sergio Garcia, a golf pro, endorsed the company’s custom-designed practice surfaces.

The homeowner decided that to improve his short game, a personal golf green would be the answer. Southwest Greens of Maryland, a division of Brothers Services Company in Hampstead, Md., worked with the owner to create his “dream green.” Garland Heird, Southwest Green’s designer, met with the client to discuss the options and, in the process, found out that the client suffers from allergies.

As a result, Heird suggested removing the recently installed sod in the backyard and replacing it with an allergy-free synthetic turf. A custom-designed green, along with a sand bunker and T box was installed. The result? A no-maintenance green that allows for year-round practice.

The synthetic products of Southwest Greens are manufactured by The Challenger Corp of Atlanta.
