Love the family room makeover featured in my recent post 5 Ways To Freshen Up Your Family Room? Here are some more details from Roswell designer Angie Thompson:

In this living room, Thompson built on a transitional setting, adding pops of color and bold patterns for instant sophistication with these overscale paisley chairs (Hayneedle.com) — the second piece to the puzzle following the sofa — with colors that are “classic, masculine, and feminine at the same time,” she says.

“The French linen chairs in the popular weathered finish provide a classical nod to the architecture of the home, while the natural linen and finish of the wood offers an updated modern edge,” Thompson says of the pair of Oxford Beige Linen Arm Chairs from Overstock.com. “These are essential in maintaining the eclectic atmosphere that we were after.”

“With the larger items in place, it was time to have fun with the accent pieces and lighting. With these accent pieces, I was able to add character and charm and touches of unexpectedness,” says Thompson. “The stars, of course, are the drum table and barrel table. These are different and provide instant conversation. The drum table and the monkey pod balls add texture and an organic feel to the room.”

Thompson also believes in adding touches that reflect younger residents, too, as shown with the pink Mini Flower Ottoman from Hayneedle.com.
