Green Play
Contractor: The Hoots Group; Architectural Designer: Jimmy Carrion; Interior Finishes Design Consultant: Kesha Fussell, CR; Furnishings & Window Treatment Design Consultant: Stephanie Andrews
The goal of this basement makeover was to create a rich, comfortable environment for the family to gather for entertainment while incorporating several green elements. At the base of the stairs, a recessed niche and stone accent wall create a dramatic entrance into the space. The room is a colorful hangout area for both adults and kids. For the children, there’s a secret playroom behind one of the walls (the space underneath the stairway) complete with a "mouse hole" entryway. For parents and friends, there’s a pool table and wet bar that includes a new countertop, sink and tile backsplash. In addition, the built-in open storage unit was converted to a window seat with cabinet doors to complement the wet bar.
