Judges Choose Atlanta’s Best Before-and-After Projects
The judges have spoken, and the results of Atlanta Home Improvement‘s Best Before-and-After Contest will be released soon! We were overwhelmed with the response to our first makeover contest, receiving more than 40 entries in more than 10 categories, including Kitchens, Baths, Complete Home Renovations, Interior Design, Landscapes and more. The goal was to find the best before-and-after projects in the city, and we were definitely impressed with the work submitted from our local contractors and designers.
After organizing all the entries, we assembled a “dream team” of judges to critically evaluate the projects and choose winners from each category to be featured in the July 2011 issue of Atlanta Home Improvement, which will be entirely devoted to local before-and-after projects. The judges include:
- Jesse Morado, past president of NARI Atlanta and owner of Renovation Coach consulting
- Mary Kay Woodworth, executive director of the Georgia Urban Ag Council and author of our monthly Garden Planner
- Barbara English, CEO of To The Trade Only, a marketing firm for interior designers
- Caren Danneman, CKD, CKB, and owner of Danneman Designs
During the judging session yesterday, the team spent more than three hours deliberating before selecting the winners. I was amazed at how the judges were able to infer so much about a project by just looking at a photo. While the goal was to determine the best of the best, the judges also commented on the merits of each project, understanding how much thought and hard work goes into a remodel or redesign.
Soon, we will update our website with all the entries from the before-and-after contest, and then, in our July 2011 issues, the winners will be unveiled in the magazine with details about each project. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, too, for contest updates.
