Modern Bedroom Makeover Wins “Decorating on a Dime” Contest

In just four days Yamini Mudaliar, interior designer and owner of Urban Motifs, converted a simple living space into a chic boutique-looking bedroom for under $1,000, winning in the professional category of Atlanta Home Improvement’s “Decorating on a Dime” Contest.

BEFOREWith a handmade, hand-printed linen headboard framed with handmade, hand-distressed wood trim, Yamini was able to create the centerpiece of the room, which she paired with new bed linens and pillows, a distressed blue-painted dresser, stenciled wall pattern and wall lights.

AFTERBoth the dresser and side table were consignment finds, and all of the artwork on the walls was handmade. These custom features made Yamini’s bedroom makeover project stand out from the rest.
