There was a time when this backyard was flourishing with activity. Children frolicked in the pool and friends gathered for enjoyable times. But through the years, the space had deteriorated to the point that it was no longer used. That is, until the talented team from AquaTerra came in to create a revitalized pool and outdoor living environment. “The homeowner allowed us creative freedom, so everything but the pool shell and infrastructure were removed,” recalls Tal Thevenot of AquaTerra, a full-service outdoor design-build firm specializing in outdoor living environments, swimming pools, water features, outdoor structures, kitchens, landscapes, irrigation, drainage and more. “The renovation truly began with the addition of a spa to give the entire space year-round function. A stunning, natural-moss boulder waterfall and a grotto were then developed as a backdrop to the existing pool vessel.”
The once-ordinary patio became extraordinary via the use of decorative stamped concrete with a heavy stone texture and a variety of colors. Additional elements such as a fire pit, outdoor kitchen finished in a stone veneer, cedar arbor and television offered the homeowners a list of modern amenities for entertaining. “The key is to create cohesive outdoor environments, whether it’s creating a master plan or appropriately blending a new addition with existing surroundings and architecture,” explains Thevenot. “Through minimizing interior-exterior boundaries and harmonizing the indoor and outdoor spaces, AquaTerra composes timeless, tranquil environments that changes the way people live, relax and play outdoors.”
