Since outdoor systems are exposed to the elements 365 days a year, we recommend annual maintenance at the very least. This process often includes pruning away foliage, cleaning the lenses, repositioning the lights if they have been knocked out of alignment, replacing timer batteries, and reburying any exposed wire from water erosion.
