1 REFERENCES: Referrals, reviews, ratings and asking the right questions about project management, issue resolution, and communication are all important parts of your research prior to selecting a contractor.
2 GET IT IN WRITING: Residential construction agreements establish agreement between you and your contractor to ensure both parties are protected. Scope, payments, timing and other considerations should be outlined. Oneida Secret: Make sure you have a clause in your contract stating, “Contractor shall be in default under this agreement if it or any subcontractor shall fail to perform any work on the project for 5 consecutive business days.”
3 YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR: Costs are important, but delivery, insurance (general liability and workers’ compensation), warranty and service are key parts of the cost package too. These benefits will outlast the cleared checks once your renovation is complete.
