Q & A – There is a strange odor in my basement and I think it might be mold. What immediate steps need to be taken to control the issue?
A: Don’t panic. Musty odors don’t always mean mold! However, basements tend to stay cooler, which causes the humidity level of the area to be higher than normal. In combination with basements having little to no air circulation, this can lead to musty odors and eventual mold growth. In most circumstances, a properly sized dehumidification unit that will clean, dry and circulate the air will eliminate the problem.
