A few years ago, professional interior design would never have crossed Selena Lewis’ mind. Yes, she enjoyed dabbling in her own home, but it wasn’t until her real estate agent surprised her with her first client that she realized this hobby she loved could be a career. The results speak for themselves— quite literally. In three years, she’s grown her business exponentially on word of mouth alone.
How do you continue to push yourself?
I am constantly learning. I started in wallpaper and learned how to help people design their homes, then I got into home renovations and am now doing new builds. I continue to build relationships with vendors to learn more about what I can offer my clients and help them achieve their goals within budget.
How do you give back to the community?
I spend a lot of time volunteering at my children’s schools, and every year I look forward to creating a new space for the teachers to enjoy and getting involved in their fundraising events.
What should more people know about hiring an interior designer?
Hiring a designer is an investment in your overall project, and budgeting money for that opens doors to resources and vendors that can help bring your vision to life.
