Charleston charm blends with contemporary sophistication in this Cary home’s master bathroom remodel. Molly Simmons, ASID, of Design Lines Ltd. transformed a dark and diminutive master bathroom into an inviting spa-like retreat full of rich caramel tones. Through the removal of an existing wall, symmetry was created using frosted glass partition enclosures on either side of the free-standing tub. The homeowners’ bathing experience is enhanced by a Hansgrohe chrome tub filler, which allows water to flow freely from the rectangular flat spout, like a natural waterfall. Marble countertops, pebbled flooring and 12-by-12-inch Jerusalem tiles bring earthy elements to the space. Reverse-painted glass, dark-wood cabinets and accents, mosaic tiles, ruffle tin mirrors and Duravit sunken sinks give this bathroom a sophisticated yet natural feel.
Other added features include a towel warmer, a rain showerhead and a fully-equipped steam unit. While natural light beams through the shutters, a sleek chrome chandelier from Hudson Valley Lighting complements the sconces mounted above the vanity. This turnkey project successfully transformed a small no-frills bathroom into a relaxing and beautiful spa-like retreat.
