In honor of National Decorating Month, what are the newest textile trends? What’s in and what’s out?

For rugs, an eclectic, modern vibe is in these days. Expect to see a more sophisticated look for 2015, especially the surprising return of luxurious rugs, i.e. Oushak rugs, with pale color ways and soft textures. Handmade rugs are still a classic and remain relevant by utilizing updated colors. Painterly Rug designs resembling abstract paintings are also in, especially those rendered in silk that seem to shimmer and even change color.

Finally, there is nothing more “sophisticated” than the cowhide rug for today’s modern, yet approachable design aesthetic.
What’s out? Over dyed patchwork and Persian designs. The shaggy Moroccan black-and-whites are also overexposed and out.
