It’s an essential part of the home, not just a place to escape the womenfolk. The luxury spaces highlighted here are outfitted with creature comforts such as cocktail bars and wine cellars, in addition to the ubiquitous big-screen televisions to enjoy the trifecta of American sports: football, basketball, and baseball.
There’s space for friends (and even the rest of the family … sometimes) and games galore—poker, golf, shuffleboard, and, of course, billiards.
Nostalgia reigns in this World Series winner’s home in Suwanee. An empty terrace-level area was transformed by Bridgette Boylan Interiors, Inc. into a mini museum and entertainment space. Baseballs and sports trophies sit alongside special edition Nikes in a custom-designed maple cabinet. Mounted bleacher seats from Fenway Park face 6-foot-high shadow boxes that house umpire uniforms and guard a hidden workout room.
A Collector’s Cove
A collection of signed sports jerseys is showcased in a custom-designed ebony maple storage unit in this Alpharetta home. Signed baseballs from the Atlanta Braves encased in glass cubes adorn the wall. The masculine contemporary space designed by Minhnuyet Hardy Interiors includes a music room with barn doors crafted from reclaimed wood accented with stainless steel dividers. The space also includes a built-in banquette, a theater room, and a recessed wine area that holds more than 200 bottles. The owner’s most prized collection item is a guitar signed by Tom Petty, shadowboxed and displayed in the hallway.
Home of the Masters
Modern technology allows golf aficionados to enjoy the game without walking 18 holes, dodging inclement weather, or traveling to Augusta. This customized golf simulator from aboutGOLF was hardwall installed in a multimedia room in HGTV star Chip Wade’s home in Cumming. The simulator features a realistic turf layout and a center strike stance mat, a full single-screen, and a high-performance computer to operate the system. This all-in-one entertainment space was designed for gaming and relaxing.
Made for Play
This Chastain Park home’s man cave was architecturally designed by Handcrafted Homes, Inc. for all-day play and everyday ease. The cocktail bar features repurposed oak cabinetry and black iron accents with natural stone flooring throughout the room. An empty space under the staircase was converted into a stunning wine cellar housing a custom-made mahogany shelving unit that holds more than 460 bottles. The cellar is enclosed by an elegant glass door framed in black powder-coated metal designed by Paul Farber of The Farber Company, LLC.
A Posh Pub
The Irish-inspired décor in this terrace-level room in Roswell is subtle and chic. From the hint of plaid on the bar stool backs to the “Extra Stout” throw pillow (a nod to Ireland’s Arthur Guinness and his beloved brew), guests love this look from the Kristin Drohan Collection. A highlight of the clean modern space is the custom-designed 12-foot banquette covered in faux crocodile material. Other exquisite elements include the glamorous nearly 66-inch-tall crystal chandeliers, the bar made of solid mahogany, and a framed original Hermès advertisement. The room also contains a three-piece sectional for extra seating and an 80-inch television.
