Having worked at IKEA Dallas, Plano resident April Cook has witnessed countless customers’ remodeling projects. Yet, it wasn’t until she and her husband started planning out their kitchen renovation that she truly began to appreciate IKEA as a remodeling resource. “We had a very dated galley kitchen that was both very small and had hardly any storage,” she explains. “Once we knocked down one of the walls and ripped out of the pantry, we began to see the promise in which the space held.”

Using IKEA’s kitchen-planning system, Cook and her husband entered their kitchen’s measurements and came up with a layout that offers them the form and functionality they were looking for. The finished project features quartz countertops, a customized pantry unit and wall cabinets—all found at IKEA. “I really loved the advantages that the quartz countertops would offer us,” Cook says. The couple also purchased all of their appliances from IKEA, and worked with IKEA certified installers to make sure everything fit perfectly. “My husband and father-in-law were able to do most of the work themselves, which makes the space even more special to us,” she concludes. “The kitchen is the heart of everything in the home, so updating it and making it more functional truly changed the feeling of the entire house.”
