Homeowners in areas that are very hot during the summer tend to have higher utility expenses. There are many consumers who are smart enough to use energy efficient air conditioning systems. However, many may have overlooked the fact that a little home improvement can save energy too. Using radiant roof sheathing and tankless water heaters will significantly cut electricity bills and help save the environment.

Reduce Energy Cost

Less heat is emitted from the roof when radiant roof sheathing is used. This can significantly reduce the cost of running an air conditioner throughout the summer. Because less heat builds up, cooling systems may be used for shorter periods or less often.

Using tankless water heaters can save homeowners as much as 30 percent on utility costs. These units heat water on demand, and the water heated never experiences thermal loss. With these heaters, there is no need to own a hot water storage tank.

Reduce Carbon Emissions

Consuming less energy at home also limits carbon emissions released into the atmosphere. Using tankless water heater and radiant roof sheathing allows homeowners to leave a smaller carbon footprint. A green home should use these systems for efficient cooling and heating at less cost.

Improve Comfort

Some people do not need to have their entire home cooled or heated. Sometimes, homeowners have rooms that are left with no air conditioning or heating. Using radiant barrier sheathing makes these areas of the house more comfortable because there is less heat coming from above. Unconditioned spaces will become more relaxing and comfortable with radiant sheathing. Without this type of protection, spaces without air conditioning can become unbearably hot in the summer.

Prevents Overheating

Modern tankless water heaters allow users to set the water temperature they prefer. They can be programed to heat water at a safe temperature. This can prevent the risk of accidents and scalding. Overheating water also wastes a lot of energy. This can be avoided with a tankless water heater. The U.S. Department of Energy noted that a 10°F reduction in water temperature can produce a 3 to 5 percent savings in energy costs.

Save Water and Space

Tankless heaters do not waste thermal energy because water is heated only when needed. Consumers will never run out of hot water in the middle of a shower with a tankless heater. These heaters can run all day long and produce hot water on demand. Tankless heaters are portable and take up very little space. They are about the size of a luggage bag. They are great for use in condos and homes with minimal floor area. Regular heaters are very big and size and take up a lot of room.

Durability

Radiant roof sheathing is made from very durable material. When installed the right way, it can last for years. Tankless water heaters are more durable than regular heaters. These heating products have an average life span of 20 years. This is twice the life of a typical water heater.

Homeowners who want to improve the use of energy in their home should definitely consider radiant roof sheathing and tankless water heaters. The initial installation and cost of equipment can be quite expensive. However, the savings that consumers can experience on a yearly basis will pay for these green appliances in the long run.

There are a number of companies that are dedicated to helping homeowners keep their homes energy efficient and save money. Home improvement and renovation projects should always make a house more energy efficient. Adding these components to a home can cut electricity costs and help protect the environment at the same time.
