Top Home Decor Gifts for 2011
Appropriately titled “Wish List,” Atlanta Home Improvement‘s November “Design Finds” section features some of our top gift picks for the home, from budget stocking stuffers to real statement makers worth the investing. I definitely spotted a few gift items that I would love to find sitting under my tree on Christmas Day.
My personal favorites include:
Vintage Birdcage Chandelier, Restoration Hardware; $2,395-$3,295
The bling makes me sing! What a brilliant (no pun intended) combination of crystal, glass and metal and a great blending of styles. Birds are a huge motif right now, and who hasn’t seen romantic chandeliers popping up in every room of the house? My props to our freelance writer Carla Schwartz, author of the design blog Decorativity, for also pinpointing this piece as a fave.
Dancing Knots Duvet, Diane von Furstenberg Home Collection; $150-250
I have been admiring Diane von Furstenberg’s Home Collection ever since it launched last year, and this bold nautical bedding just makes me swoon. It’s more like artwork rather than just a cheesy pattern like most comforters. Plus, nautical seems to be everywhere right now (see j. Lo on the December 2011 cover of Glamour.)
Pebble Collection by Karim Rashid for Post-It and Scotch; $6.99
Besides the fact that purple is my favorite color, these sleek, smartly designed little desk accessories are supremely functional. The most surprising thing to me was how heavy the dispensers are, enough to double as a paper weight. Great stocking stuffer for the modernist in your life!
