Q & A – If there is evidence of wood rot, do I repair or replace the material?
A: As with many home improvement projects, cost and permanency are common factors to be considered. While replacement with synthetic-based materials provides a more permanent prevention of future wood rot, the cost is considerably higher than repairing existing natural wood-based materials. Repairing during the early indications of wood rot usually proves to be the most cost-effective and efficient approach.
